Post Pneumonia Pandemonium and Reminiscing Remonstrances of Right to Repair

I had a fever for a week, I think it was mold(?), then pneumonia. Dr. said limit strenuous activity until I can breathe again. One week after antibiotics I'm pushing the probiotic foodstuffs. My stomach ulcer is acting weird - I'm essentially off caffeine but maybe I need a little to promote my digestion?

So... Yeah. Holding a fever of 103 - 102 for several days will wear you out. Time does a weird dance of speeding up and slowing down when your brain is getting cooked.

I've decided that using the camper to camp in might be a lost cause but it should be able to hold all my stuff that is in the carport. I'll take out the sliding beds, throw away the foam, finish patching up the siding, install new seals, silicone up the holes... and whatever else happens. Without the sliding beds there should be a lot of room to put stuff in there when it's all the way down. But if it is just going to store stuff I can keep it raised up and tape/seal up the canvas areas with plastic. Maybe I'll work on it some more later but I need to at least take a break from it. Project disillusionment and scope creep exhaustion are real things. Also my dad wants his carport back so he can do his maintenance work on his lawn stuffs.

Mental health thangs: It's been at least a year since I have done focused work on removing resentments. It's been going well. Eventually I'll get to the point where I will daily check-in any resentments I have for that day. I'm still discovering new resentments.

At this very second I'm playing and learning in OnShape (CAD software). I'm trying to make a 3d printable that will help me do tiny writing in the margins of study books. No this isn't going to be for sale, this is going to be one of those gimmicky thingies that you can download and print yourself but it is mainly for my educational benefit.

I am regularly afraid that someone will take my ideas, patent them, and then sue me for theft of intellectual property. Oh you don't think that's likely? Well you obviously underestimate the depravity and greed of humanity. I would love a standard and simple way to publish/copyright/copyleft/trade mark ideas into public use or as part of a General Public License (GPL). The original concept of Patents was to encourage new ideas and reward creative minds with some money for their efforts. The current legislation on patents is anything but rewarding to creative minds. Ideas should be "Free" as in cost and as in liberated. However this level of forward thinking will honestly only be a big reward for the more advanced minds. You want to recompile Microsoft Windows into a more stable environment? Probably not something the next guy you see in a parking lot has in mind. But if there is someone capable and smart enough to do it, I think he should have that freedom. This keeps ideas fresh and competitive.

Of course software generally has a lot of intellectual property right legislation surrounding it. Software breaks down to just simple code somewhere. I guess the same could be said for books. A book is just words. I don't know. Disney, Microsoft, and John Deere have really soured my opinion of the current state of our country's intellectual property rights.

Oh what did those guys do specifically? Disney stole nearly all of their ideas for stories from publicly available sources then had the audacity to copyright those retold stories. Furthermore they changed the language to add "copyright for the life of the creator plus 50 or 70 years" further then adding that the "creator" wasn't just Walt Disney the man but the Company Walt Disney. You want to retell the original story of Cinderella from what 1800's or earlier that it came from? You will have to dance around Disney's copyright.

Microsoft: Well software companies in general have been aggressive on protecting their ideas since the 80's. M$osft is just the biggest one. In the early days of software it was a bunch of nerds sharing ideas collectively. If you've never read of Copyleft I suggest you read it.

John Deere: You can buy a tractor to help you farm. But that doesn't mean that you have the right to fix it. As a matter of fact your tractor could have really advanced features installed but not available. This is all following the "Subscription as a Service" model. Instead of purchasing an item, you are subscribed to be able to use the item. Which in my opinion is complete hogwash.

Imagine in the not so distant future where your car pulls itself off the road and onto the shoulder, then turns itself off because you didn't pay enough for that month. You'd be pissed right? That's the idea behind John Deere vs. The Right To repair movement. Anyway. This is one of my soapboxes. Maybe you are incapable of caring less about intellectual property. That's fine. I just strong opinions about this kind of thing.

Aw. Here's a throwback to that time I tried to embellish and repair my pants by sewing the shape of a deer onto my pants. It doesn't look too bad. The pants did fall completely apart shortly after I put this deer on there however.

If you can't tell what it is it's Horns, ears, then a nose on the left. I think it's this picture (see below). I mean clearly my sewed buck is only like a four point instead of an 8 point. Aim for realistic.
